There are groups that I meet and promise my financial support. Not because I have too much or they have very unique ideas but because of the dedication of the members. Most of who are of the age of my grandmothers and mothers. Tying a ‘lesso’ and going for a village group for hours trying to empower, encourage and support one another.

On Saturday members of my office joined the Gakawa MCA Hon. Amos and the members of Umoja Kamangura Women Group in a thanksgiving ceremony of the achievements they’ve made. This group like many other women groups in Nyeri is very progressive and has started and completed many projects including buying 90 members water tanks which they were celebrating today.
My office will help them benefit with the table banking grant in AASDF as well as Uwezo fund in their smaller groups. It is always very encouraging to see what these groups are able to achieve on their own and proves that given an equal chance in government opportunities there is no limit to what they can achieve.

Today I delivered my last part of the umbrella promise to the Nyeri shoe shiners. As of today every one of the members has a good shade to operate from and it has been my hope that they will be able to work harder as they are now more comfortable.
It was a sad evening though as they have lost one of the group members. The late Isaack Thuku was a hardworking man who I had met severally and worked at the lower stage. As his body is laid to rest this Friday I trust that his soul will rest in eternal peace.
